Nearly twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the region, generating strong winds hitting 109km/h.

Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair power throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

State Emergency Services handled 598 emergency reports across the state, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Climate Outlook

Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.

Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
