Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
